Building Hope for Our Ranchers

If you walk down the hallways of our cottages and offices you will see many photos of the boys and girls who have lived at the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches over the years. We love looking through our old photos and seeing how the children have changed over the years. There are photos of boys riding bikes and fishing. There are photos of young ladies riding horses and helping our houseparents in the kitchen. There are photos of the children having fun together at meals and parties.

To us, all of these photos are reminders of your generosity. Without your gifts, those boys may not have been able to have a bicycle of their own or go fishing in our ponds. The girls may not have ever had an opportunity to go horseback riding. Before coming to the Ranch, some of our boys and girls may not have even known when they would eat their next meal.

It is because of these boys and girls that the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches were founded nearly 40 years ago. Since that time, we have relied on gifts from supporters like you to provide a safe, healthy, and loving homes for children. What began as a single mobile home for abandoned boys in Independence County has grown to multiple cottages full of boys and girls in three counties across the state.

The Sheriffs of Arkansas saw the need to provide a stable home environment for boys and girls who had been abandoned, abused and neglected. So they wrote letters to their friends and supporters within their counties to help support that mission. Today our mission is the same, but the need continues to grow.

The Ranches give children a second chance at childhood – one with educational opportunities, proper healthcare, emotional support, and a safe home. Approximately 90% of our funding comes from people just like you across Arkansas, who recognize the need to help these boys and girls. The Ranches provide all costs associated with raising a child including food, clothing, shelter, educational needs, healthcare, counseling services, and recreation and transportation costs.

The need is great, but the reward of turning a child’s life around is far greater! Your giving allows us to do the important work of giving boys and girls a place to call home, a place to be a kid, and a place to grow into a loving, caring adult. Through your investment in that mission, you are helping children break the cycle of abuse and neglect, which will create stronger and healthier families in Arkansas.

One way you can invest in the Ranches’ mission is by becoming a Hope Builder through a monthly donation to the Ranch. By becoming a Hope Builder, you not only provide much needed support to the Ranch on a monthly basis, but your gift can make a bigger impact by spreading it out over a full year.

By becoming a Hope Builder, you will also help save the Ranch in mailing expenses. We will still keep you informed about important updates with our Ranch Report newsletter, but you will not receive multiple solicitations by mail each year. We will also send a special thank you once per year with a summary of your monthly contributions.

Becoming a Hope Builder is an easy and secure way to give to the Ranch. Just click here, and select the recurring gift option at the bottom of the page, and your gift will be automatically processed each month via your credit or debit card.

Even a small monthly donation can make a big difference in the life of a child. Thank you for investing in the children of Arkansas! Because of supporters like you, the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches are and will continue to be a place for kids to call home for many years to come. Thank you for investing in our mission to be a place to call home.

With sincere thanks,
Nancy Weaver, CEO

2 Ways to Shop and Support the Ranch

There are a lot of ways you can support the Ranch by giving, but here are two ways that you can support by doing something you probably already do on a weekly basis: shop!

Amazon Smile

Did you know that through Amazon.com’s Amazon Smile program, the online retailer will donate .5% of your Amazon purchases to benefit the boys and girls at the Ranch. All you need to do is visit http://www.smile.amazon.com/ and select the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches as the charity you would like to support. Just make sure you go to http://www.smile.amazon.com/ when making your Amazon purchases, and .5% of your future purchases will benefit the Ranch. It’s an easy way to help raise funds for the Ranch!

Kroger Plus Card

Another easy way to shop and support the Ranch is at your local Kroger store with your Kroger Plus Card.

To get started, visit the website krogercommunityrewards.com with your Kroger Plus Card and create a new account (or sign in if you already have an online account). If you do not have a Kroger Plus card, you can get one at the service desk of any Kroger store, and if you use your phone number at the register instead of a card, you may call 800-576-4377, select option 3 to get your Kroger Plus Card number to register your online account.

Once you sign up for your online account, click on Edit Kroger Community Rewards information and input your Kroger Plus card number, confirm your information, and select the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches as your charity of choice. You should then see the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches name on the right side of your information page.

Once you’ve registered your Kroger Plus card and linked it to the Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches, the Ranch will begin receiving a portion of the sale every time you use your Kroger Plus card or phone number at the register. It’s just another easy way to support the children at the Ranch!
