26th Anniversary Arkansas Children’s Award

For 26 years, the Arkansas Children’s Award has been presented to outstanding Arkansans who have made a significant difference in the lives of our state’s children. The Heflin family has a legacy of making Arkansas a better place for children to call home.

The Heflins are long-time supporters of the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches. Sharon currently serves on the Ranch’s board of trustees and has served on the organizing committee for the Arkansas Children’s Award for many years. Sharon has volunteered her time serving on countless boards working on behalf of children, including Thea Foundation, Centers for Youth and Family, Women & Children First, and many others. Sharon’s late husband Johnny, also a member of the Ranch board, was instrumental in steering the organization’s strategic development in its formative years and worked on behalf of many other youth causes throughout his life. Like their parents, sons Jay and Marc are carrying on the Heflin family legacy, volunteering their time, serving on boards, and raising funds for children’s missions like Easterseals Arkansas, the Heflin Youth Foundation, and P.A.R.K.

In appreciation of their service to Arkansas children and their support of our mission to provide homes for Arkansas children, the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches is honored to recognize the Heflin Family as the recipient of the 2021 Arkansas Children’s Award.

The Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches are grateful to its corporate partners and individuals like Legacy Termite & Pest Control for their efforts to make Arkansas a better place for all children to call home. With their support and yours, the Ranch has provided safe, healthy and loving homes to more than 2,200 boys and girls since 1976. The Ranch is 100% privately funded, and with the support of individuals, businesses, and foundations, it pays for all needs associated with raising a child, including loving houseparents, shelter, medical care, food, clothing, and educational expenses.

Thank you for believing in our mission. Because of your support, our children receive what we believe is the birthright of every child—the right to proper health care, educational opportunities, and a safe, loving home environment with people who care—not only for them—but about them, as well. Thank you for compassionately joining us as we provide the best home possible for these deserving boys and girls.
