Help Send Our Boys and Girls to Prom with ArkansasGives!

The Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches need your help! We have seven to ten boys and girls who would like to attend their Junior Senior Prom this year. If you’ve ever sent a child to prom, you know that can be an expensive undertaking. Now imagine sending ten! We have already received some generous donations of prom dresses to help us meet this need, but we need your help to cover the rest of the expenses.

On Thursday, April 2, we are participating in ArkansasGives, a one-day online giving event. This would be a great opportunity to make a gift to support the Ranches’ prom fund because when you make a donation on April, 2nd, you can help us qualify for bonus dollars and cash prizes that will make your donation stretch even further!

Just visit from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on April 2nd, select the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches as the charity you want to receive your gift, and your online donation will help the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches earn bonus dollars from a $250,000 bonus pool provided by the Arkansas Community Foundation. The more we raise that day, the more of those bonus dollars we will receive, and your gift will also help the Ranches compete for additional cash prizes.

You can help right now by marking your calendars for April 2, 2015. And on that day just visit between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. to make a donation to the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches.

Because the Ranches are more than 90% funded through donations and provides for all costs associated with raising these boys and girls (including sending them to prom!), this is a great opportunity for your gift to make an even bigger impact in the lives of these boys and girls. With your help, the Ranches will continue to be more than a warm bed and three meals a day. It will continue to be a place where boys and girls get a second chance at being a kid and a place where a child can grow into a healthy, loving and responsible young man or woman. It can also be a place that gives boys and girls a chance to have formative experiences, like prom. Help us send our boys and girls to prom by making a gift through ArkansasGives on April 2nd.

More Priceless Feedback from Our Ranchers

Home and family are two words we hear often around the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches. And thanks to our supporters, when a child comes to one of the Ranches, that is exactly what they experience. We strive to make our campus as much like a family home as possible. So when we ask our boys and girls what the Ranches mean to them, we are proud when we hear things like:

The Ranch has become my family. It’s more than just a place to live. It’s home.” – Erin, age 18

“The Ranch is a loving and caring home with a lot of people that love you.” – Kaleb, age 16

“The Ranch to me is family. It’s home away from home.” – Chris, age 17

“My favorite thing about the Ranch is my houseparents and the opportunities I have.” – Brandon, age 16

…and sometimes, we are reminded how much our boys and girls connect with more than just the people at the Ranches!

“My favorite things about the Ranch are the cows and the people.” – Dylan, age 14

We love the fact that the Ranches offer learning experiences for our children with cows, horses, goats, and other animals on our campuses. First and foremost, the mission of the Ranches is to be a safe, healthy, and loving place for our boys and girls to call home. That was the vision of the Sheriffs of Arkansas and other citizens who founded the Ranches nearly 40 years ago, and that is exactly what we have been to more than 1,200 boys and girls. And it’s the vision that our friends and supporters continue to make possible.

The Ranches are much more than a warm bed and three meals a day. They are also a place where boys and girls get a second chance to be a kid and a place where a child can grow into a loving, caring, responsible adult.

As I’m sure you are aware, raising a child is an expensive undertaking, especially when you raise as many as we do at the Ranches! But you cannot put a price tag on saving a child’s life. The Ranches pay for all needs associated with raising a child including food, clothing, shelter, educational needs, healthcare, counseling services and recreation and transportation costs.

Because more than 90% of the Ranches’ operational support comes from charitable giving, we rely on donations from the community to continue to serve these boys and girls. And as a private nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, all gifts made to the Ranches are tax-deductible within the extent of the law.

With a gift of $25, you can help the Ranch provide a new coat for a child during the cold winter months. A gift of $50 can provide new shoes to a child who arrives at the Ranch with shoes that no longer fit or are worn out. A $100 gift can provide water for one of our cottages for one month. $300 can feed our children’s horses for one month. And $500 can supply one of our cottages with groceries for an entire month!

With your help, the Ranches will continue to be a place to call home for many more boys and girls. And with your help, we can give our children new opportunities that can break the cycle of abuse in their lives. I hope that you will consider making a one-time or monthly Hope Builder gift to the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches today.

As a Hope Builder, you your gift will be processed automatically each month with a credit or debit card and is a safe and simple way to provide constant, much needed support for our programs. Even a small monthly gift can make a BIG difference in the life of a child!

Did you know that a monthly contribution of just $25 can provide:

•  New shoes for up to six of our boys and girls
•  A monthly allowance for one child
•  Caps and gowns for all of our graduates
•  Birthday gifts for 12 children
•  Feed for our Rancher’s horses for one month
